BalloonGaz capacity & floating time
Bin it - Don't let go!
Always dispose of your balloons responsibly and most important: Don’t let go!
Designed by the European Balloon & Party Council, this symbol aims to raise awareness not to release balloons into the environment and ensure, at the same time, balloons are disposed of correctly and responsibly.
Do not inhale!
Harmless as it may seem, inhaling balloon gas (helium) can be dangerous - deadly, in fact.
When you inhale helium, it displaces oxygen. This means that as you inhale, helium is all your body gets, which can lead to a state of oxygen deprivation within seconds - and here lies the danger.
"What if I'm just inhaling from a balloon?"
Well, this common party trick, typically thought of as harmless fun, can give you temporary symptoms such as headache, nausea or light-headedness - you might even pass out!
However, it can also lead to more severe, even life-threatening conditions. These include confusion, asphyxiation, air embolism or bleeding of the lungs - especially if you inhale from a pressurized container.
This only shows that helium inhalation can be a pretty risky - and more often than not, it's simply not worth the risk.
Therefore – Do not inhale!
In order to raise consumers' awareness on the possible health consequences and dangers of inhaling balloon gas (helium), the European Balloon & Party Council (EBPC) has launched the "Do not inhale gas" symbol.
You'll discover this symbol mainly on balloon packaging and other party products packaged with balloons and on the packaging of all our BalloonGaz products.
Do not release outdoors or use near electric powerlines, may cause power outages
Most foil balloons intended to be filled with helium have a very thin layer of aluminium which functions as a barrier to keep helium inside the foil balloons for longer. Without the functional aluminium layer a foil balloon filled with helium gas would only float for a short time causing disappointment. As aluminium is an electricity conducting material, foil balloons used outdoors have the potential to cause power outages and major disruptions in case they get into electrical powerlines. A symbol has been developed by the European Balloon & Party Council to help raise awareness amongst consumers. Foil balloons should not be used close to electrical powerlines nor be released. The symbol will be accompanied by the text: “Do not release outdoors or use near electric powerlines, may cause power outages.”
